Friends

Friends of KIDS

In each country we visit, KIDS relies on local support for sustainability and success. Our friends and our strength are the local people. Hotel managers come to villages to translate and ask us to go to their villages the following year. We eat in restaurants every evening and the employees ask us to go to their villages as well.  We meet people while traveling and local people want us to come to their communities.  As we help local communities, word spreads and more requests come.

In addition to our close, personal contacts in each location, below are some of our trusted a local non-government organizations and grassroots groups.

  • Cambodia: COLT – This is where we started in Cambodia and today, the children come with us as translators to “help Dr. Bob who has been helping us.”
  • Cambodia: Education First Cambodia – Education First Cambodia (EFC) has become a great ally to KIDS and we look forward to working together year after year. Their constant care for the education of primary school children and young women is remarkable.”
  • Cambodia: Sreyka Smile Organization – Through this organization we treat more than 500 children in villages and remote schools near Phnom Penh.
  • Guatemala: Ixil Foundation – KIDS started working with Ixil Foundation in 2014, in Ixil Area, Guatemala. We hope to build a great relationship in this new community.

Every KIDS team is staffed entirely by volunteers.  Dentists, dental residents and students are referred to us from dental schools and practices all over the United States and beyond.  We thank the following dental schools for their ongoing support of our efforts.  Many of the dental students that join our dental projects return to us as dentists!

  • Columbia University Dental School – NY, NY
  • Montefiore Medical Center, Department of Dentistry – Bronx, NY
  • Lutheran Medical Center, Dental Medicine – Brooklyn, NY
  • University Dental School –  Adelaide, Australia

KIDS is a non-profit organization with ZERO percent administrative costs.  We rely on generous donations of instruments, time, and expertise to keep our organization running and continue treating children worldwide, year after year. We thank the following for providing KIDS with invaluable services!

  • Nordent – Supplier of dental instruments: has provided KIDS over the years most of our instruments for use in our field trips. They are our biggest donors.
  • Pulpdent – Supplier of our dental products: provided fluoride and dental varnish for all of KIDS 2104 Dental work.
  • Goodwin Procter, LLP – Worked pro-bono to make KIDS a full 501(c) 3.
  • Gibson Dunnn & Crutcher, Lawyers – Ryan Murr: provides our current legal services.
  • Julie Givens,  CPA – provides pro-bono tax services.
  • Kereem Nicholas/Abel Ramirez: Pro-bono webmasters

KIDS Board:

Our board members and advisory board members remain anonymous. They are people from a variety of fields of work that bring a range of expertise to the table. No one is required to donate money, rather, they donate their time and talent to make the organization work and keep KIDS’s overhead rate at ZERO.

KIDS supports the work of Education First Cambodia. EFC supports the university education of exceptional young women from exceedingly poor rural families. EFC also provides its students with English and computer training, leadership skills and computers. Education is the path to a more successful Cambodia.

KIDS–thankfully and gratefully–connected with Ixil Foundation in 2014, in Ixil Area, Guatemala. Their grassroots coordination and logistical contributions were and will continue to be critical to our success. We hope to build a stronger relationship in this new community.
